Dual-leader Alder Takedown
Posted Tuesday, June 9th, 2020
Rett Roscoe of Roscoe Brothers Tree Service is the climber in this takedown of a huge dual-leader Alder in Ridgefield, WA. The tree was completely dead but still climbable. Rett and his crew used two rigging sets to piece down 8-foot sections of stem wood; the first rope was rigged almost directly over the stem, and the second was rigged about 15 feet away, directly over the drop zone. As the cut is completed, Rett pushes it off the stem, where it is suspended initially by the first rigging set until it stops swinging; then the load is transferred to the second rigging set so the log can be easily pulled to the desired drop zone.
